Background
In the Centre for Language – Variation – Multilingualism, language, language use, language variation, and multilingualism are investigated across the entire lifespan – topics of central importance in modern societies. We assume that the empirical focus on language change, language contact, language use, and language acquisition phenomena is particularly suitable for researching aspects of the linguistic system and for contributing to linguistic theory formation. An important activity is the centre's Lecture Series, in which current university-internal and external research projects are presented. The promotion of young researchers takes place in the form of a research seminar and a postdoc initiative. A special form of support for young researchers is provided through e-learning offerings, primarily aimed at students of the language and cultural studies programs of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
