Welcome to Sport and Exercise Psychology!
Sport and exercise psychology is the study of individuals' experiences and behaviors related to physical activity. Our research focuses on questions such as "What motivates children, adolescents, and adults to integrate (more) sport and exercise into their daily lives?" or "What role do affective processes play in shaping the decision to exercise regularly?
Our unit co-manages the ZPS (Center for Practical Sports Psychology), which is located at the UP Transfer GmbH at the University of Potsdam. The ZPS focuses on the development and provision of sport psychology services for elite and professional athletes in Germany, in particular for athletes and their coaches at the Brandenburg Olympic Training Center (Olympiastützpunkt Brandenburg) and elite sports schools (Spezialschulen Sport, Eliteschulen des Sports).
At the University of Potsdam we offer various courses, seminars and lectures in sport and exercise psychology. We are very active in supervising bachelor and master theses in this field. Whether you're a guest or an interested outsider, you're always welcome to explore our work and contact us.
