Junior Research Group ProAID
The junior research group ProAID (Protein Oxidation in Aging as Target for an Individualised Dietary Intervention) was part of the NutriAct competence cluster for nutrition and was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from 01.12.2017 to 31.12.2023 (funding reference 01EA1706).
The aim of the junior research group was to investigate and understand the influence of nutrition on the ageing process and the development of age-related diseases. The main focus of the research was on oxidative changes in endogenous proteins. To address the research questions, in silico analyses, cell culture studies and animal experiments were carried out and samples from human nutritional intervention studies (including NutriAct, LeguAN, NuEva) were used.
We would like to thank all members of the junior research group, cooperation partners and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), which supported the junior research group as project manager. We would also like to thank the University of Potsdam and in particular all members of the Institute of Nutritional Science, who made the work of the junior research group possible and actively supported it.
