The Methodology section (Humanwissenschaftliche Forschungsmethoden) of the Institute of Psychology at the University of Potsdam, Germany, consists of two senior staff members: PD Dr. phil. Eberhard Schröder and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Schwarz, who heads this section. A primary task of the Section is to provide the suite of regular standard courses in psychological methods and fundamental statistics for psychology majors. We also offer more specialized courses, and methodological advice for graduate students.
In addition, the section covers a broad range of research topics. Dr. Schröder's research covers educational measurement, Piagetian developmental studies, school evaluation studies such as the large-scale european PISA study and its various follow-ups, and more generally a range of topics in the area of epistemological and social-science applications of psychology.
Dr. Schwarz's research covers experimental perceptual and cognitive psychology, and the mathematical modeling of elementary psychological processes; for further detailed information, please, consult his personal webpage.
