A semantic typology of location, existence, possession, and copular verbs
This lecture describes the results of a large scale investigation of polysemy in the expression of location, existence, and possession in 116 languages of Mainland East and South East Asia. The talk will present evidence for an implicational universal covering the historical development of languages in the semantic domain under discussion.
