Europe in Potsdam - The EDUC Alliance continues to grow together
From May 4 to 6, the members of the European Digital UniverCity met for the Steering Committee Meeting at the University of Potsdam. The Steering Committee is the highest steering body of the university alliance and makes strategic decisions for the further development of the alliance. For the first time, the two new partners of the Higher Education Alliance, the Spanish University Jaume I and the University of Southeast Norway, were also present. With them, EDUC consists of eight members and Europe's educational landscape is becoming more and more connected.
The meeting of the EDUC-SHARE partners on the Golm campus kicked off the meeting days on May 4. With a focus on a common research agenda, knowledge transfer and citizen engagement, EDUC-SHARE has been adding important aspects to the Alliance since February 2021. During the Steering Committee meetings, among other things, a new important function of the alliance platform was presented. In the future, OpenUP will provide access to research and innovation opportunities of the alliance members and foster the networking of scientists. The platform will not only be available to EDUC member universities, but will also allow the involvement of important partners in business and society.
In addition to the completion of major milestones from the first funding phase, the 24th EDUC Steering Committee meeting focused on the preparation for a possible next funding phase. Important strategic topics were on the agenda, such as the continued development of governance structures, the process of further integration of the two new partner universities, and possible new collaborations with a Ukrainian university.
All participants enjoyed the meeting in person after the long pandemic winter and the intensive application phase. We are looking forward to the upcoming meetings at the partners in France and Norway and the further growing together of EDUC.
