Dr.-Ing. Samih Al-Areqi is a visiting researcher in our group. He has a strong academic background and extensive expertise in service and software engineering. He obtained his PhD from the University of Potsdam, Germany, focusing on semantics-based automatic geospatial service composition. During his doctoral studies, he developed a domain model for automatic workflow composition using semantic annotations and taxonomies through low-code platform technology (jABC). Dr. Al-Areqi also holds a Master's degree in Information Systems from the University of Jordan, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Zarqa University, Jordan.
In his professional journey, Dr. Al-Areqi has served in key roles such as Tech Lead and Senior Solution Architect at Mazars GmbH - Co. KG, Germany, and Executive Specialist/Senior RPA Engineer at BASF, Germany. His technical skills span a wide range, including proficiency in programming languages (C/C++, Java, C#, VB.NET, VB Script, Python, R, LaTeX), process automation (RPA, REST APIs, SAP Intelligent RPA), OCR technologies (UiPath OCR, Azure Computer Vision, Azure Form Recognizer), and project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall). Dr. Al-Areqi been supported by different prestigious scholarships in the past, including a PhD Scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Bonn, Germany, and Master Studies Scholarship from DAAD.
His academic contributions extend beyond research to teaching. Dr. Al-Areqi has served as a lecturer at Sanaa University, Yemen, and conducted courses at Potsdam University as part of his "International Teaching Professionals" training. He will be happy to (co-) supervise internships, interdisciplinary and thesis projects, and share his experiences with our students. Dr. Al-Areqi has actively engaged in professional development, obtaining certifications in SAP Signavio Solutions, PMI Citizen Developer Practitioner, and various UiPath certifications. Additionally, he has undertaken various responsibilities in non-profit associations and conference organization committees, demonstrating his dedication to community involvement.
