Lectures and seminars
Lecture series on plant genetics, genomics and bioinformatics, Potsdam, Germany, 07th - 17th March 2016
The lecture series has been embedded in a winter school on plant genetics, genomics and bioinformatics. The winter school as well offered the opportunity for ESRs to participate in hands-on workshops on transcriptomics and plant metabolomics.
Programme: Plant genetics and genomics lectures covered basic as well as modern topics in the plant biology field i.e. classical genetics and gene mapping, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics. Moreover, molecular mechanisms of plant development and novel technologies in molecular biology e.g. site directed mutagenesis, the CRISPR/Cas system, chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with NGS (ChIP-seq), immunoprecipitation (IP) for isolation of protein complexes and identification of interacting proteins, and other techniques to determine protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions have been explained. Finally, plant senescence and abiotic and oxidative stresses in plants were discussed.
