Content
The seminar is offered to Master students in order to prepare for a final thesis at the Chair of Innovation Management.
The focus of the seminar is the transfer of methodological knowledge, which is the tool to work on the content of a research idea. A research idea can be a conceptual contribution or an empirical study. The students will get a deeper insight into empirical social research. Depending on the research question, the focus is either on discovering new phenomena or on testing presumed relationships.
At the beginning of the seminar, the students will deal with these different research goals and their consequences for the design of their own research project. Hypothesis exploring, explorative investigations require a different methodological approach than hypothesis testing, explanatory investigations. In this context, the students will deal with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods in the course of the seminar. In addition to an overview of the multitude of survey and evaluation methods, the students should recognize under which conditions which methods are suitable in order to be able to investigate the research idea in a targeted manner.
This acquired basic knowledge will be applied and deepened by conducting their own research project on current topics from innovation and entrepreneurship research. In doing so, students will learn how to present the results of scientific research to an expert audience in the form of a presentation and a scientific article.
