Labeling external e-mails

We would like to inform you about an important change regarding external emails. In order to ensure the security of our university network and the security of your data, we will label external emails from 15.09.23 onwards.

What does this mean for you?

In the future, when you receive an email from an external sender, that email will have a special label in the email subject: [Extern].

The label will help you better identify emails and alert you that it is from an external sender. This does not imply any verification of the integrity of this email! You should still be careful when you receive emails from unknown senders or with suspicious content. This measure should actively help you to distinguish faked sender addresses from internal mails from the university.

We have listed some important tips on the ZIM website:

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you very much for your attention and support in ensuring e-mail security at our university.
