The Potsdam-Leuven Perspective and EGPA
As part of this year's conference of the European Group for Public Administration (EGPA), which will be held in Toulouse from 26 August to 28 August , Geert Bouckaert, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, and Werner Jann, University of Potsdam, will launch their jointly initiated project "The Potsdam-Leuven-Perspective: The Future of Public Administration". In the special session “EGPA Institutional Platform: 40th EGPA Anniversary” they will present their agenda in order to start a dialogue with interested colleagues. Their initiative aims at analysing the future challenges of Public Administration as a discipline and profession from a European perspective, while also seeking to develop possible answers.

Within the next years, the two researchers will hold thematic seminars to start a systematic dialogue with European and international colleagues on realistic scenarios of the future of Public Administration.
The first seminar "Keeping an eye on the disciplines", scheduled for April 2016, will discuss problems and opportunities of strengthening a multidisciplinary perspective in Public Administration. Its aim is to define ways to overcome disciplinary barriers within Public Administration, and to consider multidisciplinary teaching and research collaborations.
In September 2014, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has awarded the international renowned Public Administration scholar Geert Bouckaert with the Anneliese Maier Research Award. The awarding´s motivation was to strengthen the international alignment and development of Public Administration in Germany and Europe. Geert Bouckaert accepted the invitation of Werner Jann to spend the award in Potsdam and they jointly set up the project "The Potsdam-Leuven Perspective”.
