Singlet Oxygen is the first excited state of molecular oxygen, which is generated upon irradiation in the presence of a sensitizing dye. A typical reaction is the [4+2] cycloaddition of 1O2 to acenes.

We exploit this reaction for a braod variety of applications such as lithography, oxygen storage or molecular motors.
