At the end of the FESTEM 2019 symposium two excursions will be offered for the conference participants. Both excursions will take place in the afternoon (after closing of congress) on Friday, 5 April 2019.
All registered conference participants will be informed soon about the detailed options per mail. They will receive a query concerning their participation interest and they will have the possibility to sign in for the preferred trip via mail.
1. Potsdam Sanssouci
Potsdam’s Sanssouci with its palaces and park structures was a quiet refuge for the Prussian king Frederick II. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Sanssouci “without a care” was built between 1745 and 1747. The situation of the palace on the famous vineyard terraces and the originally preserved 18th century interior decoration allow today’s visitors to delve into the world of the philosopher of Sanssouci. The tour will offer a visit of the highlights of Sanssouci Palace and Park. The guided tour takes approx. 1.5 h, afterwards free time at your disposal.
2. Museum Barberini
With the Museum Barberini a new cultural attraction came to Potsdam. The Museum Barberini in the reconstructed palace is located in the historic center of Potsdam on the square Alte Markt near the City Palace where the Brandenburg Parliament meets. The Museum Barberini presents temporary exhibitions from international private collections and museums. From March to June 2019 the late work (final two decades of his life) of Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) – considered to be the reinventor of art in the twentieth century – is exhibited. The guided tour takes approx. 50 min, afterwards free time at your disposal.
Depending on the number of participants, the price for these trips might be around 25 €.
