Going abroad during your studies

Have you always been dreaming about studying at the University of Málaga, doing an internship in a company in Australia or writing your master thesis at a scientific institution in the USA? Take the opportunity to make this real and spend a part of your studies abroad. You will make a lot of professional and personal experiences.

Do allow about a year notice to prepare for your stay abroad, because especially for grants you have to apply at an early stage.

The first address for questions about your stay abroad is the University of Potsdam's International Relations Office (Akademisches Auslandsamt, AAA). You will find a lot of information on different aspects of a stay abroad on the website "Studium & Praktikum im Ausland".

You can find a lot of helpful information on different destinations, study programs in foreign countries, grants and much more on the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and on the website "go out – studieren weltweit", a campaign of the DAAD and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

ERASMUS Partnerships

Like many other institutes at the university, the Institute of Informatics maintains numerous ERASMUS partnerships with universities in other European countries. You can apply for ERASMUS programs every year between 1 December and 31 January for the following academic year. The application is made via the MoveOn portal. Please contact the ERASMUS coordinator at the Institute (Prof. Dr. Anna-Lena Lamprecht) before applying to discuss your ideas and plans. 

Partner universities of the University of Potsdam

The University of Potsdam has a lot of partner universities outside of Europe. For many of them the student exchange plays a major role. When you go to study at one of them within the exchange program, you have to pay no or reduced tuition fees.The University of Potsdam has partner universities in the USA, Australia, Latin America, Russia and Georgia. Most of them are free for all subjects.

Internship abroad

An internship abroad combines perfectly professional experience with the improvement of language skills and the acquirement of cross-cultural competences. You can also do an internship in a company or research institution to write your bachelor or master thesis.
