We are happy to share a very successful case of applied Research Software Engineering:
Our students Marvin Henschel and Oskar Soth completed their Bachelor internship at the Institute of Physics and Astronomy. Under the supervision of Dr. Martin Wendt, they worked on the software tool FELINE (https://feline.readthedocs.io/). FELINE is a highly specialized tool for detecting emission line galaxies in 3D data. Together, they improved the software to better align with recommended practices for research software. Their efforts culminated in the publication of FELINE in the peer-reviewed Journal of Open Source Software (JOSS): https://doi.org/10.21105/joss.07528.
Congratulations on this great achievement!
