WIPCAD phd-fellow Lydia Malmedie was a visiting researcher at the Institute for European Studies (IES) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels from October until December 2014. As part of the IES cluster on Migration, Diversity and Justice, she sought the exchange with Brussels based academics and conducted field research. For her thesis on the EU's foreign policy and promotion of human rights, she participated in relevant official and unofficial events held by the European Parliament and Council and spoke to staff at various European institutions, as well as NGO representatives.
