| Residence Permits for Spouses and Children |

Under the concept of family reunification (Familiennachzug), when you have a residence permit, then your spouse and children under seventeen years of age are also granted residence permits. You must provide proof of adequate financial resources and adequate living space for your family. The length of stay for your family members is coupled to your residence permit. By law, children after their seventeenth birthday are only allowed to be unified with their families when they have adequate German language skills.
